2009 Awards of Excellence Recipients

Best Marketing & Communications, Large District:

Measure WW Campaign
East Bay Regional Park District

East Bay Regional Park District won of two large district awards for Marketing and Communications in the state by the California Association of Recreation and Park Districts (CARPD). The award was part of CARPD’s annual conference in Incline Village on April 23-26.  

The Measure WW Campaign:

  • Supported a $500 million regional park bond
  • Was a two-year public information campaign that began in 2007
  • A multi-faceted approach that included media relations, community relations, collateral, events, governmental relations, and employee communications
  • Was approved by 72% on election day 2008

CARPD was established in 1958 and is dedicated to improving the quality and efficiency of California’s recreation and park districts.  Through two joint powers authorities, the 65 recreation and park districts that are members of CARPD are eligible for reduced rates on worker compensation coverage and liability/property damage insurance – saving local communities thousands of dollars.  Each spring, CARPD hosts an annual conference and awards competition to recognize outstanding programming, facilities, and service to the community.
