2009 Awards of Excellence Recipients
Best New Facility, Large District:
Community Pool
Conejo Recreation & Park District
Conejo Recreation and Park District won the large district award for Best New Facility in the state by the California Association of Recreation and Park Districts (CARPD). The award was part of CARPD’s annual conference in Incline Village on April 23-26.
The Community Pool project:
- Partnership with California Lutheran University, the City fo Thousand Oaks, and Conejo RPD
- $3.4 million facility
- 4,800 sq ft; 140,000 gallon pool, 240 person capacity
- Included shade structure, office, restrooms, kiosk, and outdoor showers
- Complements CLU olympic-size pool for collegiate events
CARPD was established in 1958 and is dedicated to improving the quality and efficiency of California’s recreation and park districts. Through two joint powers authorities, the 65 recreation and park districts that are members of CARPD are eligible for reduced rates on worker compensation coverage and liability/property damage insurance – saving local communities thousands of dollars. Each spring, CARPD hosts an annual conference and awards competition to recognize outstanding programming, facilities, and service to the community.
